08|11|2019, The journey begins

प्रकाशित: 08.11.2019

Hi guys,

a lot happened today! Today was our last night in the hostel!

The start of the day was pretty standard. We had breakfast first, then took a shower and packed our things because it was time to move. Move into our new home, our car!😊

After enjoying breakfast and the shower, we soon left the hostel. So there we were, the two of us, in the middle of Australia, in a 4x4 SUV with a rooftop tent, in the middle of Australia, able to do whatever we wanted! It's a really cool feeling!

Once through the city, our first stop was "K-Mart" because we needed some things to start our trip.

With a keen eye for the things you really need on such a trip, at least I dare to claim, we walked through the huge market and bought various things. We put boxes for our clothes, breakfast boards, a blanket and pillows, and a few other things in our shopping cart. Then we had real problems fitting all the things we just bought into the car, but somehow we managed to fit everything in and continue driving.

We filled up the car with gas, checked the tire pressure, checked the car's fluids, and hit the road!

By now it was already 2 p.m. After a drive across Brisbane, we reached our destination, IKEA, after about 45 minutes.😂

Since it was on our way and we were curious if IKEA in Australia might be different from ours, we checked it out.

In the IKEA restaurant, we had some Köttbullar and then quickly browsed through the store.

It must be said that there is almost no difference to the German IKEA, but one thing caught my attention immediately, as a loyal IKEA Family member. Here in Australia, as a Family member, you don't get free coffee. But since I wasn't the first one to wonder about this, the cashier explained to me that it hasn't been available for 3 years, but nobody knows why!

Well, so that I can still have coffee in the next 6 months, I also bought an espresso maker. We'll browse IKEA again in the coming days, but according to online reviews, there might not be any more spots available at the campsite we picked for today, so we had to hurry a bit.

We quickly bought dinner and then drove to the campsite. It was emptier than we expected, but it was only 4 p.m. and it filled up rapidly during the evening.

Now it was time to "settle in". Although our previous owners had already created a decent order in the car, we still had to adjust it a bit for our needs, which we managed to do perfectly! Setting up the rooftop tent was super easy and in no time our sleeping place was ready, and I have to say, it's really cozy!

Since neither of us was really hungry, I cut up an apple for dinner, which we then ate together, and now we're already in bed. I think it's totally cool to sleep in a tent on the roof of our car, and I really didn't imagine it would be so comfortable.

Tomorrow morning we'll visit Sonja and her family. Sonja is my grandma's sister's daughter, so technically we're family, and I'm really excited that we can visit them here in Australia!

I'll let you know how it goes!😊

Greetings from Beenleigh, Australia!🇦🇺

Your Tim!😊
