10. Tag: von Jiretin pod Jedvolou nach Jelenia Gora

Who hasn't heard the call (with an echo) "Snieeeeekoppe...!" in advertisements for healthy stuff (at least among the over-50s generation?). The Sniezekoppe is the highest peak in the Giant Mountains, the mountain range on the border between the Czech Republic and Poland (formerly Lower Silesia).

Zittau Market Square

After leaving the Czech Republic, the beautiful Upper Lusatian Triangle and Zittau, we are now on our way in this beautiful landscape towards Jelenia Gora (Hirschberg).

Giant Mountains

By the way, this brand still exists. Schneekoppe "sees itself as a pioneer in the field of natural foods", but is produced in Nordheide (in the west).

Rübezahl, the legendary giant, who is certainly still known to many, is also at home in the Giant Mountains.

Rübezahl
reconstruction

Almost 80 years after the war and expulsion, Silesia is not in the consciousness of most of us.

The weather has been good since we left the after-sun cream in Grimma, the sun is shining and the wind is still blowing from behind.

And when the speed drops, e.g. on inclines, companions come along.

There were companions uphill

After a bus driver in Zittau kindly informed us where we were in the manner we already knew and have documented many times in the past few days, the roles are clearly assigned when encountering Polish and Czech drivers. The cyclist is hardly or not at all taken into account when choosing the speed or when planning overtaking maneuvers.

Jelenia Gora

In the evening we enjoy ourselves in Hirschberg, after all we have a birthday child in the tour group.

After dinner

In Poland the portions are big!
