Day 5 - Växjö-Helsingborg

प्रकाशित: 12.08.2017

We start the new day with a view from the hotel window. The weather report was not lying. The sky is cloudy, everything looks gloomy. But today we continue to Helsingborg!

The journey is similar to the weather... gloomy and monotonous. After about 50 KM we decide to take a break. Before our mood matches the dull course of 'Bundesstraße 23', we add a few waypoints to the route that allow us to drive off the monotonous road. As it turns out, that's a good idea. The roads become smaller, curvier and more varied. Unfortunately, the towns we pass through become more modern and monotonous the further west we go. By now, the rain has started, not heavy, but it's drizzling constantly. Somehow we manage to cruise through the small streets and towns in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Nasi's constant blinking after every turn becomes noticeable.

We pass many beautiful spots where we could linger, but that's exactly when the rain starts again.

At some point, we decide to put on our rain gear. Now the rain doesn't bother us anymore and we continue driving to Helsingborg, because there we will find the Bishops Arms again, the place that we liked very much during our first stop in Kristianstad.

We check in at the Elite Marina Hotel, right by the harbor. Unfortunately, we don't have a room with a view of the harbor, only a room with a view of the inner area. As we have now found out, that's the luck when you book the rooms through an online portal and not directly with the hotel.

The 'cheap' room price is relativized by the lack of parking facilities and the associated additional costs in a parking garage. However, the friendly lady at the reception gives us a free ticket, so we only have to pay for one motorcycle. At least something....!
After we have found a free space in the parking garage, the gloomy day takes its course. Next to me, it goes KLONG!
What happened? Nasi put her helmet on the saddlebag and it hit against something. The helmet hit the ground so unlucky that the visor cover and brackets are broken and lying in several pieces on the ground, and the visor is happily bouncing on the ground. That fits well with the gloomy day!
Anyway, it happened and we have to find a solution, because tomorrow we will be driving on the highway and that's not possible without a visor.
Luckily, I brought a roll of duct tape. We attach the visor to the helmet with it. It holds well and also looks really stylish!!!!

We end the evening at the Bishops Arms, with Guinness and San Miguel.

Tomorrow we head towards Malmö and cross the Øresund Bridge, leaving Sweden for Denmark. The weather is supposed to be friendlier again and we are looking forward to this trip.

Conclusion of today:
- We like East Sweden better than West Sweden
- Rain is no fun in Sweden either
- When a helmet hits the ground, it breaks quickly!
- Multiple waypoints in the navigation system = more scenic route
