Day 2 - Trelleborg-Kristianstad

प्रकाशित: 09.08.2017

We woke up early and took a look 'overboard'. Land in sight... and rain. Not a good start!

Quickly have breakfast (breakfast was mediocre and not recommended), pack our things and go down to the bikes. Apparently, we were one of the last ones to get to our vehicles. Everything was already waiting to leave. Well, we had to loosen the straps and get ready. We couldn't have known that this would stall the entire unloading process. Next time, we'll be there earlier... promised!

Off the ship and leaving the port area behind, we looked for the nearest parking lot. We had a problem. Our usually reliable navigation system didn't recognize the planned route. For some reason...!?

Fortunately, we still had a map with us, so we put together a new route similar to the planned one. We followed the east coast. Our first stop was Ystad, where we found a small pastry shop and treated ourselves to a coffee. Apparently, several scenes for the Wallander series were filmed here. The walls were covered with corresponding photos.

We continued along the east coast, heading towards Århus. Along the way, we discovered a few great places and simply stopped.

In Århus, we stopped at the marketplace for a short break. There was also delicious coffee there. By now, even the sky cleared up and the sun appeared.

We weren't far from Karlstad anymore and we reached our first accommodation. The Bishops Inn, a quaint hotel with a pub, a beautiful terrace, and loads of beers and other alcoholic beverages. Highly recommended!

We will relax and end the evening here.

Conclusion of our first day: The Swedes are a very friendly people and also very slow (when it comes to driving speeds). You have to get used to it. But everything here feels 'relaxing'! Small amounts are paid with the Visa card, you have to rethink that at first, but then it works pretty well.

From tomorrow, summer temperatures and no rain are forecasted. So, it's going well!
