On December 13th, I was able to celebrate my birthday in summer for the first time - a dream come true! In the morning, we went skydiving. After putting on my skydiving pants and safety harness, I was interviewed. Then we headed towards the plane... smaller than expected. It could only fit one pilot and up to 4 passengers. Just enough space for the 5 of us. And then we were off. I was so excited and couldn't wait to jump out of the plane. So I even asked if we could do a few spins on the way down. On the way up, the tandem instructor asked me some questions to record for the video. The view was magnificent - we could see the Torquay beach, where we also jumped from. And then it was time. First, I had to stick my feet out of the plane - just like that. Surprisingly, it wasn't scary at all - the joy was too great. Then I put my head on my tandem instructor's shoulder and off we went. We were flying. The free fall lasted about 40 seconds and was simply indescribable! There was also a spin (in hindsight, not such a good idea). Then the parachute opened - and I felt sick - that was the fault of the spin, which I probably shouldn't have done. I get sick on roller coasters and I know that, so I don't know how I got the idea that I wouldn't get sick from a spin in the air... I was probably too excited and not afraid. For the landing, I had to lift my knees up with my hands, which was quite difficult because I was so tightly strapped to my instructor - but in the end, I made it and we landed on our bottoms. Then I was briefly interviewed again - but I couldn't say much because I felt so sick. After returning the pants and safety harness, I lay on the table in the cafe for about 2.5 hours and then outside under a tree... After that, I felt better and finally started my journey home.
In the evening, I went to the beach with Julia and Curtis to celebrate my birthday and eat my birthday cake (yummy marble cake). Of course, we also went swimming - it was 36 degrees!!! On my birthday! Fantastic. Just as I had imagined, celebrating my birthday in the summer - probably even more beautiful!! Around 8 pm, Lisa and Merle joined us, and then we all had a piece of cake together and took group photos. Julia and Curtis went home because it was bedtime for my baby, and I stayed at the beach with Lisa and Merle until 11 pm. Lisa and Merle even brought cool party hats and balloons, which made for some beautiful photos. We actually kept the party hats on when we went into the water to swim or take more photos. We had a lot of fun and everyone looked at us strangely because we were laughing so much and still wearing our party hats. You can find all the great photos above! It was the best birthday I've ever had! Finally, it was warm (or rather hot), I was able to celebrate my birthday at the beach and even go swimming. And of course, skydiving! A once-in-a-lifetime experience (although who knows, maybe I'll do it again?). And if you would like to see the video of the skydiving, you can either message me on WhatsApp or send me an email - then I'll send you the video :)
The koala cake that you can also see in the photos above was a birthday gift from Maria, Julia's friend! I love koalas - and of course, chocolate cake ;) So sweet of her!!
