~ Saturday, 10/13/18 ~
Hello,
My journey started early in the morning on 10/13. We departed for Amsterdam Airport at 7 a.m. After checking in my luggage, I said goodbye to my family for a whole year...
And suddenly, I was on my own, waiting for my flight to Vancouver. After a delay of almost 2 hours (due to technical problems!!!), the 9.5-hour flight began. But time literally flew by. I had a whole row with 3 seats to myself, so I could lay down, sleep a little, and watch movies.
Once I arrived in Vancouver, I went through passport control, where I had to answer a few questions. Luckily, my luggage also found the right way, and then I sat at immigration, waiting for 2 hours to get my work permit for Canada.
When I finally got out of the airport, I took the SkyTrain to Vancouver Downtown, where my hostel for the next 10 days is located. And already on the train, I noticed how open-minded Canadians are. I was immediately approached by someone who wanted to know where I'm from and what my plans are. He also talked positively about Germany and gave me some tips for my time in Canada. I haven't experienced something like this often on the German train.... :-)
During the train ride and the check-in at the hostel, there were no problems either. In my 6-bed room, I also directly met an Australian and an Englishwoman who took me to the cinema. Otherwise, I would have probably gone straight to bed and fallen asleep. Instead, I could sit in the comfortable cinema seat (which even tilted backwards!) and nodded off several times there :-D
Afterwards, I went back to the hostel and finally went to bed after being on my feet for 26 hours.
