Hello family, friends, and people who want to share our journey.
From time to time, we will write about what we have experienced in the past days or weeks. We will decide how often and how long our posts will be.
On our way to Cairns, we made a 3-day stop in Singapore. We stayed in an affordable hostel that covered our basic needs: beds and toilets.
The city is different from what we expected in terms of size and diversity. We mainly stayed around Marina Bay Sands, which consists of a series of huge office skyscrapers, Gardens by the Bay, various, sometimes peculiar architectures, and of course, Marina Bay Sands Hotel/Mall.
We started with a typical hop-on/hop-off tour, which allowed us to escape walking around in the incredible heat and get an overview. We continued with Gardens by the Bay, which is located in the south of Singapore. We strolled along the Skywalk and had a nice view of the green park. The light show in the evening provided both relaxation and spectacle.
We were only silent observers in the huge and numerous luxury malls, but we were amazed by the number and size of the Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc. stores.
Our personal highlight was the nearly 200m high Sand SkyPark, which stretches like a boat over the three towers of the hotel. From up there, you have a magnificent view of the city lights.
In conclusion: Due to the relatively few sights, the compactness of the city, and the challenging climate - you couldn't drink as much as you sweated - we were glad that we only stayed in Singapore for 3 days. Nevertheless, Singapore also has its beautiful sides and was worth experiencing.
Now we are in Cairns and are excited about what's to come.
Until then,
your Louis & Jonas
