On to Bokakhat - Assam
The alarm clock rang shortly before six o'clock and the Uber taxi, pre-ordered for half past six, arrived super punctually. It quickly took me out of Guwahati to the ISBT bus station. And here a super modern luxury bus was ready for me, which took me to Bokakhat within 6 hours. The journey was really comfortable, with a small lunch break. There was a delicious Thali and already after 90 minutes around 2 pm I reached Bokakhat. Here it was only a short distance (800 m) and I stood in my guest house for the coming days. The atmosphere here was very relaxed and on the first evening I immediately enjoyed the local rice beer, which was really enjoyable.
Excursion to Kakochang Waterfall
With an electric Tuk Tuk we went very slowly to the waterfall 8 km away. The advantage of these E-Tuk Tuks quickly becomes clear, they no longer pollute the environment like the good old Pigaggio Tuk Tuks. Let's now come to the disadvantages, they are quite uncomfortable and incredibly slow and on steeper slopes it almost came to a standstill and we had to be pushed by passers-by. After about 30 minutes we reached a parking lot. Now we had to walk the remaining 2 km. After a short time loud Goa - Psy Trance music came from the bushes "Crazy" and after the next bend the first stalls could be seen, as well as more and more people. Must be a special tourist destination, so I quickly continued on my way, lined with many more stalls and many more Indian excursionists. Also considering the number of stalls, it was logical to find plastic and packaging waste everywhere. Then I stood in front of the waterfall on a pedestrian bridge, feeling like 500 other guests. I quickly took my 2 photos of the big but not very spectacular scenery. And then, as it was so clear, I was now quickly in the center of camera lenses, selfie - selfie - selfie.
Kaziranga National Park
This was of course the main reason to come to Bokakhat. At 1:30 pm we started the jeep safari and it was really beautiful, after 5 minutes of being in the park, we already spotted the first rhinos in the distance. Fortunately, they should not be the only ones, more and more could be seen and they came very close, luckily we were safe in the jeep. But we could also spot many other animals, monkeys, deer, wild boars, buffaloes and of course many different birds such as herons, eagles or many small specimens. At some point we even spotted a fat, good 3 meters long python. And a small herd of wild elephants, amazing. So it was really worth coming here.
Orchid Park
I thought to myself, okay, I'll just take a look at some flowers. But I didn't yet realize how beautiful and interesting this excursion would be.
I took a bus from the main road of Bokakhat, just had to wave and get on. And I drove 18 km with this bus, got off and 3 minutes later I was already at the entrance of the park. First came the orchids, here a lady accompanied me and explained a lot about this great plant.
Opposite was the cultural museum, here a young man explained a lot to me about traditional everyday objects and tools, and there were also embroiderers present and you could admire their craftsmanship.
Now came the museum for traditional musical instruments and this was really spectacular. He not only showed the respective instruments, but also played them, wow.
Afterwards there was time for a walk in the park.
Next was the cactus park, unfortunately very small. This was followed by the bamboo park, where they showed me the different varieties. And finally the rice museum.
Now you could watch some traditional dances and next door in the restaurant enjoy a really huge Thali. So really a perfect compact day trip.
In the guest house they told me to go to Majuli next, so well, that's where I'll go next.
