Driving in Georgia
Who would have thought that Georgia is so familiar to us? Ok, yes, the script is foreign and the language too. But here there are these cars that clearly look like 'Eastern Bloc' and that are familiar to us Austrians from our visits to our neighbors in Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia (or of course the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic). Yes, the Lada is still driving, and yet - as Roby just said - it was already old when we were young.
And the customs in traffic are also well known to us. To me only from frequent stories, but Roby himself from his earliest experiences as a driver in Greece. Long, long ago. Two-lane country roads are simply transformed into three-lane ones here when someone wants to overtake, which is constantly. The fact that all kinds of animals are also on the highway (e.g. cattle, pigs, sheep, and dogs) and that there is no shortage of potholes makes it even more fun. I admit: I am very glad that my task is to read Google Maps on my phone.
