... Ke Aloha - Cheers in Hawaiian
During today's breakfast, we have the enjoyable sight of a rainbow, which always seems to appear when we are about to say goodbye. But the Hawaiian saying 'without rain no rainbows' does not apply today, because we can expect bright sunshine for our last day here in Maui...
Now it's time to say goodbye to my lifeguards at the Lahaina pool! They are visibly moved by a farewell card from me, and I enjoy swimming there one last time. With the words 'See you next year', I am bid farewell, so they are already expecting my return... I wouldn't mind at all! :)
Afterwards, the two of us 'Hula girls' say goodbye to the town of Lahaina, and we take a final stroll through the Hawaiian shops - in a cute store, we see a VW convertible made of tin, handmade, with a surfboard on the back seat, it's ours, there couldn't be a better souvenir!
An pineapple lemonade provides a refreshing treat, a first for both of us, we've never had it before, what a mistake! It tastes absolutely delicious... A first 'Ke Aloha' for the past few weeks!
After one last visit to the beach in the afternoon, where we let our souls relax, our accommodation treats us to a free Mai Tai and Hawaiian-style popcorn with live Hawaiian music - so, a second 'Ke Aloha' to this fantastic vacation!
In the evening, we witness the last sunset here in Maui, today with 'high surf'. We have never seen such gigantic waves before - only the elite surfers are out for wave riding. It's difficult to capture them in photos, the pictures only give a glimpse of the spectacle we experienced. A fitting end to our last sunset here in Maui.
Tomorrow morning, we will return to Kona, where we will spend the last day of our vacation, as our flight back to Germany won't leave until 10:00 p.m. And maybe we will still meet the future Ironman champion here, who knows?!?! In any case, the town should have made all the preparations for the world championship on Sunday by now, and that alone is worth seeing.
If I don't have the opportunity to create a blog entry tomorrow, I will make up for it in Germany. Anyway, I would like to thank you all for your positive feedback on my travelogue, I had fun letting you share in this dream vacation... Mahalo to all of you, and I'm sure that for all readers, a piece of vacation is now coming to an end!
