After checking out of my accommodation, the plan was to first go to the train station in Plymouth and take the train to Ivybridge, which is right on Dartmoor. But since this train would only leave at 2pm, I abandoned this plan and started marching at 11am directly from Plymouth.

After about 3 hours, I passed Cornwood and about an hour later I reached Dartmoor, lovely :-)

Apart from the dead sheep every few hundred meters...

Unfortunately, I took a hiking path where the bridge marked on the hiking map no longer existed. It was basically a nice place where the bridge used to be, but I didn't feel like finding a way out of the dead end in the morning and possibly turning back. So I searched for a possible crossing of the river, which I found. I was able to continue uphill towards the Two Moors Way. At around 10pm, a little south of Quickbeam Hill, I found one of those funny round mounds (no, not a hill grave) right next to a small pond. The perfect place to pitch my tent before the sun sets. And here I am now, in the middle of nowhere with the best view of the sunset. It's special that the twilight is visible here in the west as well as in the east, probably because there are simply no high mountains here... Legolas would definitely have a great wisdom about it ;-)

Well, despite the 11 hours (23 km) of hiking, I can still feel it a bit, especially because of the just over 30 kg of luggage... But I have already reduced the weight a bit by consuming some of the provisions ;-)

Water, coffee, baked beans in tomato sauce, luckily I'm carrying the gas stove with me!
