Roadtrip Day 37 - Yanchep National Park

प्रकाशित: 23.10.2017

Yanchep National Park is a rather small park and everything can be easily reached on foot. We booked a tour of one of the limestone caves for just $15 per person. Together with the ranger and many other tourists from all over the world, we went underground for about 1 hour. We learned a lot about the formation and history of the cave and its creatures.

Next, we headed to the lake as the next attraction. We bought ourselves an ice cream at the kiosk. Then we went on the Koala walk to spot some koalas. We saw a few of them, but unfortunately, most of them were sleeping and trying to hide. Koalas sleep 18-21 hours a day, and if they sleep less than 18 hours a day, they die of exhaustion. Most koalas are also nocturnal, when it's colder and eating and moving are less exhausting. We think koalas have an enviable lifestyle.

Before heading to the camp, we took a walk through the forest. It looks completely different from the rest of Australia we've seen so far. Later at the camp, we were visited by kangaroos.

We felt like we were in Ludwigsburg's Baroque Gardens in this park. It's beautifully designed and perfect for tourists and city dwellers who like to get away there on weekends.

Tomorrow we're heading to Perth, the first major city in Australia. Let's see how it goes after 7 months without a big city. We're excited.
