Stage 09 Evian 12.3 Km (215.7 Km)

Highlight of the day: Filling a bottle of Knutwiler with Evian water.

Originally, I wanted to have a rest day today. But those who know me know that I can't sit around all day. And the village with its 223 inhabitants is not particularly suitable for doing much.

So I decided to hike to nearby Evian and also start a short stage from there tomorrow.

Although it is very flat from Meillerie to Evian, there is no hiking trail or a good way to walk next to the road like yesterday.

So I took the first road that leads up on the left. So in the end, some height meters were added, exactly 180. In return, there were some beautiful views of the lake and towards Lausanne, where I will say goodbye to Lake Geneva after a few more days of hiking.

I have never been to Evian before, so I am curious what is so special about this city and in particular the famous water. Without knowing the chemical composition of the water, I don't feel any difference compared to my beloved Knutwiler.

Maybe we should also build a fountain in Knutwil where everyone can fill their bottles themselves. As you can see in the photos, I filled a Knutwiler bottle at the Evian fountain instead.

Unfortunately, there was a major construction site at the casino, so I couldn't get in. Too bad! I wanted to top up my travel funds a bit. 😂

The city itself is versatile and there are some sights. However, at the moment, there is not much going on, it is certainly much busier in summer. It took me a long time to finally find a taxi for the return journey (€ 27).
