9. Yoho National Park

From Glacier National Park we continued directly to Yoho National Park after we had replenished our supplies briefly in Golden.

Here you could already see that there are a lot more tourists, as we are closer to Jasper and Banff, which of course also means that the campsites are fuller and you have to search a bit longer.

The first stop here in the park were the Wapta Falls. The waterfall reminded me a bit of Niagara, even though it is smaller. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth a visit. The path from the parking lot to the waterfall is very easy and quick.

The next 3 nights we spent at the Monarch campground, where we just caught the last spot.
From here we went on several excursions.
One day we hiked up to Paget Peak. It took us 3 hours and 40 minutes for a total of 965 meters in altitude and almost 10 kilometers in length. Although it was super exhausting, it was really worth hiking all the way to the summit - almost climbing in the end.

The next day we drove to the Takkakkaw Falls.
The waterfalls are almost right by the road, which of course means that there are a lot of people there. They are impressive nevertheless, especially this level that really makes the water splash out of the mountain.

From here we decided to go on another hike. This time we went along the valley to the Yoho Glacier. It took us about 5 hours for the almost 16 kilometers.
Unfortunately, there was no glacier left to see, only what was once under the glacier. But even that is impressive and the path was also quite nice and not too strenuous.

Finally, we visited Emerald Lake. The lake is really beautiful and worth seeing - even though you can already see the mass tourism here. For me, one of the more beautiful lakes that you should visit. Since it was not easy to find a parking spot, I parked about 800 meters away from the lake on the road and then got my kayak from the car. The others had already started a short hike around the lake in the meantime.
A nice man drove me and my kayak up to the lake from the car, so I didn't have to carry it. Kayak in the water and off we went. On the other side of the lake, I coincidentally met the others again and we took a little break together.

The two of them had run back faster than I had paddled, it took me just under half an hour.
