I know, the title is not the best. And the entry has nothing to do with Vienna. And the title is not entirely correct either. But fuck that, I find it funny.
And with that, a very good morning, dear community. Halloween is just around the corner. For me tomorrow, for you today. However, while in Germany only the usual trick-or-treating is done, this festival has a much higher significance here in North America.
In our regular disco, the "Level 2" (or SehSie: The Next Level), the Halloweekend Launch Party already started on Thursday. The Halloweekend Party followed on Friday (which we attended) before the Halloween Party takes place tomorrow. The obligatory plastic arrow prop on the head is of course not enough. And as a friend of cultural pursuits, I have not skimped on the choice of my costume (picture is attached). A clown costume seemed a bit risky to me at the moment, but I think I have found an adequate replacement.
But my roommate Yannic caught the largest fish (wordplay) on the net: a full-body hammerhead shark costume. He liked the costume so much that he put it on a few hours before the party. It was funny to watch a hammerhead shark doing everyday things like enjoying a cigarette or gaming on his Alienware laptop.
There were some other interesting characters at Level 2. The highlight was clearly a guy in a Borat swimsuit, but the two guys in T-Rex costumes were also impressive.
After about three hours of enjoying beers with confident head nodding to the beat, the spectacle was over. On the following Saturday, procrastination was the order of the day (don't despair, I only learned the word yesterday). In the evening, we consumed the entire first season of "Eastbound & Down" with Danny McBride starring in the lead role. If you are a fan of Seth Rogen's humor, I highly recommend this series from HBO.
Today was more active again, as we took a trip to the "Wild Play" adventure park as part of a university activity. We had to assemble at half past nine, such an inhumane time. Well, at least I was spared from watching HSV play...
With my gluteus maximus strengthened by Mount Benson and co, the obstacles were a piece of cake. No matter how deep the abyss and how wobbly the suspension bridge (nice word) were - the Ghetto Squad had no trouble. However, it was once again striking in the group that there were a lot of German-speaking comrades. One of them told me that on their last trip, there was only one Canadian while the rest were citizens of the black-red-gold flag. Maybe we should tell that to the self-proclaimed "Reichsbürger" (or as a sophisticated person would say: "idiots") who rant about foreign infiltration and shoot police officers.
Well then, in this sense: Happy Halloween and don't let killer clowns, "Reichsbürger", or Pietro Lombardi get to you.
Yours, Felix
