This is how I can summarize my day today.
At Casa de los sueños, Fridays are always 'Activity day'. That means there is no classes, but the children can come to play and have lunch. It is optional and many only come for the meal and then leave. Basically, we just have to supervise the children, maybe give them a game or play with them. Volunteers are required to be present from 11 am to 3 pm, with the first hour reserved for a meeting with us. Today, there weren't many children and so we were mostly bored for the rest of the time. A shame, really...
After dinner, I took a little walk around the city. The only problem was that I locked the door to my room and didn't take the key. There is only one copy, so thankfully the son-in-law who was present had to unscrew the mosquito net with a knife (it's a women's household, no proper tools). I always leave the sliding windows open, so the grandson was able to climb through the window and open the door from the inside.
In January, when I was staying with Carla, I managed to lock the entire family out in the middle of the night for a whole hour. I came home relatively late, everything was dark and quiet. I dutifully locked the metal gate and the wooden door, and then placed the iron bar, just as I had seen Alejandro do. Later on, I was woken up by a loud thump, but couldn't figure out what it was. I just thought, which idiot is making such a noise in the middle of the night, and went back to sleep. When I woke up again, I didn't dare to go out until someone eventually called my name. It instantly dawned on me...
They took it lightly, but I couldn't believe how stupid I was.
I don't know how, but I managed to delete photos and a short video from the SIM card of my camera. They were pictures from today at the project and of the grasshopper at my room door this evening, as well as a video taken from the taxi. Yeah, I'm Super Marion! The grasshopper was kind enough to stay, so I could take another picture of it after my technological feat.
Weather unchanged.
