The sunny weather is enticing on Easter Monday. Berni and I are heading to Horgen. We take the route through the city of Zurich. But what is that 😳? When downshifting before a traffic light or an intersection, the Bulli simply shuts off the engine. Is it my driving style to blame or is there a technical reason for it? Luckily, the engine immediately starts again as soon as the ignition is turned.
At Horgenberg, we park 'Emily' and walk about 2km through the forest and across meadows to the mountain pond. There are many excursionists on foot, with bicycles, and with children.
All the barbecue areas are occupied at the mountain pond. It smells wonderfully of wood and sausage. We walk around the pond and return to Emily. We find a suitable place away from the hustle and bustle and park near a field road. Berni boils water on the gas stove. After a while, we enjoy hot tea and cake and watch the people walking by.
On the way back, Berni is driving. We make a short stop at Gianni and Max's in Rüschlikon, then we go through the city of Zurich back home. There are lots of people at Quasi near Bellevue! No wonder, with the first warm rays of the year! ☀️ Of course, the engine does not shut off once on the way home 😏🙄!
Conclusion: Traveling in the Bulli is very pleasant. I can easily imagine a longer trip. Only the smell of gasoline when turning on the heater and the sudden shutdown of the engine need to be clarified.
It was beautiful! ☀️🚐🌲🚶♂️☕️🍪
