Day 1 - Bangkok - arrived in the hustle and bustle

After a long but relaxing flight, we landed at 11:30 a.m. local time. Unfortunately, entry took over an hour. Then we took the Airlink Railway directly from the airport to the city for 45 baht per person. This was followed by a 20-minute walk at 35 degrees and 80% humidity along an old klong over very small, rickety bridges to the Hotel Solitär on Sumkumvit Soi 11. That was pure backpacking…

The hotel is great. The area was explored, including a visit to Seven Eleven. After a short break we went to Chinatown this evening. It was crazy, so many people, so much different food and so many lights. A wonderful start to Bangkok.
