22.04.2016 Meningie, News and Sea Lions

प्रकाशित: 07.05.2019

You haven't heard from us for a while. Unfortunately, our blog's website had some problems and we couldn't update anything. Anyway, we have some big news.

Both of our second visas have been approved and we are officially allowed to stay longer. Currently, the only thing left on our to-do list is the car. We have to renew the registration and fix it up a bit, as we have let it go a bit lately. It's also impossible to keep it clean since we have to drive it to the farm every day.

Anyway, everything else is going well and we have been to a place recommended by the farmer in the last few days. Here, you can take a nice walk along the Coorong National Park, with saltwater on the left and freshwater on the right, which is quite interesting. It's actually forbidden to even be here, there were signs everywhere that only authorized people are allowed. We also occasionally see sea lions here and we were lucky enough to see some. It's really exciting to see them in the wild and not just in the zoo. The first one we saw scared Jenny. She was walking ahead, unaware, and suddenly heard some kind of grunting noise, and there was this huge black animal sitting in front of her and it jumped into the water out of fear :-D.

Mike has been hiding to take great videos of the sea lions.

In addition, we attended a football game/tournament in the last few weeks. It's a mix of rugby and football, but it's a sport that Australia invented for itself. Mike got the urge to play rugby again. We also notice that winter is slowly approaching. We have already had nights with temperatures as low as 5 degrees and we absolutely don't want to freeze! Besides, we hardly have any warm clothes left. When we get back home, we will probably get sick because we are no longer used to the cold. Speaking of getting sick, it's surprising that since we left home, we haven't gotten sick once (not yet). No flu, no tonsillitis or anything, even though we have been mostly living outside and it has gotten quite cold during the nights in the car.-- Pictures to follow --
