30.12.2017 - Santa Teresa and the cancelled boat trip

प्रकाशित: 31.12.2017

The first change of location was coming up and we went to the Nicoya Peninsula to the surfer town of Santa Teresa. Usually, you have to take a ferry for about 70 minutes to reach the peninsula, but there was already a lot of chaos at the port, because Costa Ricans also like to travel in their country, especially during the New Year.

The system to buy tickets is very complicated... you have to get a card (ficha) that is allegedly sold by an unfindable man with a gray t-shirt and then stand in line with about 500 people in over 30 degrees to get the actual ticket....

After an hour of trying to figure out the system, no gray t-shirt in sight, so we had to change our plans and drove about 200 km in about 6 hours on supposedly very bad roads via the Pan-American Highway and other roads. Somehow it worked,,,, But it's like in Chile, the days of changing hotels are not travel days but lost days....

Arriving there, a quite small hotel room but right by the Pacific with a wonderful view.....

After having to buy replacement slippers for my broken ones, and here they only have flip flops that I walk on like on eggs, we had a great burger in a place that explicitly states that you cannot pay separately. : - )

A few pictures from the day....
