11.04. Fascinating sounds

Today's originally short tour (about 150 km) to the northwestern corner of the South Island, to the Tasman region, was extended by a detour to French Pass (+ 3 hours). It was cold at 11 degrees, but the sun was shining. So almost ideal conditions. The French Pass is the 'confluence' of two sounds. Apparently, the world's largest whirlpool forms here. You can reach the tip of the peninsula via an increasingly narrow, winding road. The detour was definitely worth it. The area here is particularly beautiful, so far the scenic highlight of New Zealand for us.

For the next 3 days, we will be staying in a cottage at 'Lancewood Villa' in Upper Motuere. The village was once founded by Germans, so you can still find many references to German history here. For example, at the pub there was Stadtwurst with sauerkraut...
