The friend of our host, Bob, is a pilot and proud owner of a 25-year-old small aircraft. Today, Bob flew us along the coast towards the east. It was a bit bumpy at times, but Bob, as expected, remained completely relaxed. We got to admire the already familiar beaches such as Lucky Bay (the one with the kangaroos) and Orleans Bay (the snow-white one) from above once again. After a turn towards the sea, we saw the Recherche Archipelago below us, a collection of many small islands. These islands are protected and cannot be visited. One of them, Middle Island, holds a true natural wonder: Lake Hillier, which is coloured like a raspberry shake. The exact source of the color is still unknown, but it is believed to be caused by special bacteria. Simply unbelievable, or did someone intervene? 😉
Today is a public holiday in Australia (Labor Day). Therefore, we deserved some relaxation and enjoyed the sun, the turquoise sea, and the gentle breeze at Twilight Beach in the afternoon....
