On Monday I let myself drift through the city. After the night storm, it was so hot, humid, and muggy during the day that visits to the large shopping centers were very welcome. After having Thai food for lunch, the Free Walking Tour started at 4:30 pm, which focused only on the Marina Bay Sands complex. In summary, the centerpiece is the casino, one of two legal places in Singapore where gambling is allowed. The rest of the huge building complex with 3 hotel towers, concert hall, and shopping center is all designed in Feng Shui to bring money into the casino. The 3 hotel buildings symbolize mountains. The ATMs are all on the left side and so on.... Another part was the "Gardens by the Bay". They are built with 18 Supertrees that generate energy through solar and biomass incineration. The conclusion with sunset and skyline was a very nice end to the tour. There were 36 participants from all corners of the earth and our guide Yap did a fantastic job.
For dinner, after Victor and Chirag finished their work, the three of us went to have Singaporean-Chinese food one last time. Pork liver with spring onions. Giant prawns, fried rice, pork ribs in Guinness sauce, snails, Indonesian chicken, sea cucumbers with vegetables, sweet potato leaves. After that, unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye, I hope Victor will make it to Europe someday.
The evening looked like this, that the three of us, Chirag, Steffi, and I, sat together until 5 am. We talked about life and my further journey. The two of them will also leave for India for 2 months at the beginning of December. Today I am still writing from Singapore Airport. The night wasn't too long because some mosquitoes kept me busy. The past years, it didn't feel so bad with the pests in Singapore for me, but I don't like them. After a shared coffee in the morning, I started my journey to the airport by taking public transport. My flight with Scoot departs at 2:45 pm local time. I will arrive at 4:40 pm, taking into account the time difference. The time in Singapore was a perfect start and has brought me a lot. I hope to welcome Chirag and Steffi back to Germany next year. The gratitude for the past few days is as great as the anticipation for Chiang Mai. Before departure, I will book a hotel in the old town so that I have a starting point. Otherwise, many last greetings to everyone from Singapore.
