After our daily sit-in at the rooftop bar for blogging, we felt ready to enter the (from Hangover 2) famous Khaosan Road.
We were still on the parallel Rambuttri Alley when Nathalie found a sign there with a shortcut through a small lane to Khaosan. However, the shortcut led us straight into an Afro-Thai reggae bar where the incarnate reincarnation of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole played the role of the server at cool live music 🤷♂️😂. Here we met Heike and Walter from Bavaria, who had already found the same 'shortcut' 2 days ago. After a small rum and cola bucket and 3 beers, we actually made it to Khaosan. Here we were able to briefly 'observe' the street intermezzo before the police restored social order at exactly 0200 hours and initiated the curfew with several squad cars and motorcycles, as well as a riot squad. However, the curfew did not last 20 minutes and many shops reopened, as did the numerous ping pong show promoters, scorpion or laughing gas vendors 🙈.
Embodied by alcohol, we initially flirted with getting a tattoo but then decided for some insect food (Phew 😉). However, WE gave everything and tried EVERYTHING the stand had to offer after careful selection 💪. The party included: mealworms, grasshoppers, giant grasshoppers, baby frogs, dung beetles, bee larvae, and a tarantula!
Chapeau 🤠!
The rest of the evening we continued to party through the bars until we finally finished Khaosan and treated ourselves to a well-deserved kebab 💪🍻🥳.
Spoiler: Despite being slightly hungover, we managed to catch our flight today and are already writing this post from beautiful Luang Prabang in Laos 😊
