Day 7 - Bosnia / Montenegro / Albania

प्रकाशित: 02.08.2019

Friday evening, now we have been on the road together for almost a week and I must say "knock on wood" everything is still peaceful in our gang. Well, those who know us know that occasionally there may be a comment with a nice remark as a conclusion, but that's normal at this age. :D
Back to the topic, after we treated ourselves to a relaxation day yesterday, today we had to scrub a few kilometers again. At the end of the day, it was a sporty 521 km. The plan was originally to start at the campsite in the middle of Croatia at around 8 o'clock since we are on vacation, but it ended up being 9:20 am. Estimated arrival time at that point: 4:34 pm at Lake Resort (Shkodra/Albania). In the end, we reached paradise, Albania, around 7:30 pm, about 3 hours later than "planned". And why all this? I can only say border controls! OMG! It's really unbelievable. We were aware that this stretch would eventually come and would take a lot of time. But waiting times of over an hour at the border crossings from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Montenegro and from Montenegro to Albania, with 36 degrees Celsius, were a real test of patience for us four boys. Only at one of the two border crossings, our bus was checked by officials, and what flies in the face of the friendly customs officer when I open the trunk for him? That's right, the bread knife with a blade over 30 cm long and the glass right after that. Congratulations at this point... We Eastern Germans are so stupid. ;-)

Otherwise, there's not much to report about the trip. The photos speak for themselves. For my part, I can only say that now you can feel that you've arrived in the Balkans. I'm curious to see what else awaits us. The villages here are no longer called: Pretzschendorf, Colmnitz, Dorfhain or Klingenberg but Bijeljani, Alija, and Sarajevo (greetings to all our football fans who follow this blog, M.K & L.L leading the way). We should definitely come back here and watch some popular sports. ;-)

Even though I love driving, the 520 kilometers in one day are taking their toll. But honestly, this place where I'm sitting right now, writing this report, makes up for everything. That, exactly that, is vacation. We lovingly call it "PARADISE".

After leaving the other countries behind, we reached our main goal, Albania. It's amazing what this country has to offer, roads of the highest quality, a wonderful landscape, friendly people, and unbeatable prices. When we arrived at the campsite, we could hardly believe our eyes. It's simply hard to put it into words. We quickly set up our camp for the next few nights, took some cool photos for our social media channels, and then went to the restaurant in the middle of the campground for dinner. A 0.5L barrel of beer for €1.50, a huge salad for €1.70, and a mixed grill plate for €6.00. We could hardly believe it, and it tasted delicious, the servers were super nice. I'm just in love with this country!!!
I'm getting sleepy now, I'll quickly have a final beer with the guys, then it's off to bed, tomorrow we're going hiking. So good night everyone and have a great weekend. :)
