For us, the night was already over at 3:00 am. Craving for coffee and breakfast. Okay. A small blog from the bed.
At 7:30 am, we were picked up by our guide Craig with the Hummer, Experiance Fraser Island.
Craig had given us a first break and spread a green tablecloth at a picnic station. We enjoyed cake and biscuits as well as coffee or tea. Then off to the bathing suits and to Lake McKenzie, a freshwater lake with crystal clear water. Very close to paradise.
Always further on the sandy track, but suddenly the Pacific with its white foam crests in front of us. Craig stepped on the gas and we raced at 90 km/h for 40 km along the sandy beach. Well directed in left-hand traffic through tidal channels, along the runway for propeller planes to Mahena Wreck, a luxury liner stranded here in 1930.
Back off-road through the rainforest, by now we are all a bit tired and some nod off during the strong waves of the track tour!
But Craig, who has accompanied us through the day with profound knowledge of flora, fauna and the history of the island as well as being a magnificent traffic participant, serves us a glass of champagne under Giants and everyone is fit again.
Back to the ferry to enjoy the almost kitschy sunset with Flinders, Captain's Cat.
Conclusion: Great day, everything included, except: 0 kangaroos, 0 dingos, 0 koalas.
But at least 5 humpback whales and 1 lizard.
Tomorrow: Travel day, neck massage 😁
