Explore San Cristobal on 01.12.2019

The plan for today is to rent a bike and explore the island. We wake up earlier for this purpose and have breakfast at a café. There, we are advised against riding a bike as the conditions are said to be too difficult, and instead, we are recommended to take a taxi tour. We accept the recommendation and take a taxi around the island. The first stop is a volcano whose crater is filled with fresh water. Unfortunately, the crater is full of fog and we don't see much of the lake. We continue to the turtle breeding station on the island. There, the turtle eggs are incubated until they hatch, and then they are raised. We get to see small to large turtles. Afterwards, we head to Puerto Chino beach where we find sea lions and birds. Then, we head back. We explore the island on our own and find a somewhat bumpy path where iguanas and sea lions sometimes stay, leading to a secluded beach. We had to quickly return as it was getting dark and the national park closes its doors.
