गिली, लोम्बोक, इंडोनेशिया

Then we continued by speedboat to the Gili Islands, which belong to Lombok, east of Bali. We had chosen Gili Air, as Gili Trawangan is known as the party island and there isn't much on Gili Meno. During the boat ride, we even saw dolphins. The journey was very relaxing, we could sit on the upper deck, listen to music, and if we wanted, buy beer. After about 2.5 hours, we reached the Gilis, the snorkeling paradise. The cool thing was that there are no cars or scooters on Gili, only a few electric scooters. Otherwise, there are bicycles or horse carriages. We didn't use the horse carriages because I didn't think the horses were particularly happy...especially in the heat...besides, the island is not that big, so you can easily walk everywhere. We had our first adventure in the first night, as we had a hyperactive rat in the bathroom, hopping around wildly. The next morning, we moved to another house. Without a rat. However, we were always woken up very early in the morning by the mosque, as prayers were said about 8 times a day. Most of the islanders are Muslim. We explored the island by bike, it is easy to go around. There are beautiful beaches there that are not crowded yet, cute little beach cafes and restaurants with seating areas, all sweetly decorated and designed in a hippie-beach style :) It was also fun to stroll along the beach in the evening and choose a nice restaurant with a table right by the sea, there were many delicious restaurants there. We bought snorkeling masks and went snorkeling from the beach. We discovered a huge turtle and swam with it. The next day, we booked a snorkeling tour and saw amazing fish and corals, as well as the famous underwater statues at Gili Meno. We also had lunch on Gili Meno... which we probably shouldn't have eaten. When we got back, Manu was really weak and tired. At first, we thought it was from the sun, especially when he got a slight fever, I thought it was a heat stroke. We first tried Ibuprofen, drinking a lot, and resting. But when it didn't get better the next day and the fever rose to about 40 degrees, I decided to call a doctor. He suspected a bacterial infection from the food, and Manu was prescribed antibiotics and a lot of other pills, like Paracetamol and something for the stomach. But even the next night, we had little sleep because the fever rose to almost 40 degrees despite the medication... I was a bit worried because he was taking antibiotics now. And yet his whole body was burning hot and he had chills again. I then tried cooling his calves and after another Paracetamol, the fever went down. Luckily... Only the stomach problems remained. It was good that I was equipped with medicine, so there was Elotrans every day to compensate for the electrolyte imbalance. After 3 days of bed rest, we could still enjoy the last day on the island with a peaceful beach walk and watching the sunset in the evening. The next day, we took the speedboat back to Bali... where the next adventure was already waiting for us...:)
