Koh Lanta, an island to relax! Full of anticipation, we arrived by ferry and took a taxi directly to our accommodation, a bamboo hut. Yay. Totally cute, affordable, hammock, and close to the beach, what more could you want? Well, I suddenly got really sick and spent 2 days in the hot hut, turns out an air conditioner would have been nice. So two nights later, we left our little hut where we had painstakingly (for the first time!) put up our mosquito nets.
So everything packed up again and took a taxi from Long Beach to Klong Khong Beach. There we found a hostel that was next to a resort, which allowed us to use the pool (yay). I was starting to feel a bit better and we decided to rent a scooter as the traffic here looked relatively relaxed. Esther safely took us over the hills, gravel, and around the deep potholes with her driving skills and on the first day, we hopped from beach to beach. Including a secluded bay.
The next day, we drove into the jungle with the scooter and went on a mini hike to a waterfall. Of course, I was super prepared with flip flops. We showered briefly there, snacked, took pictures, and then went back. On the way back, I photographed half of the jungle (I attached a few). After that, we actually wanted to go to the national park but we turned back because the entrance fee was too high. We prefer to spend the money on food. Priorities.
Koh Lanta has beautiful viewpoint restaurants and beach bars. In general, there is a relaxed atmosphere. The relationship between Thais and tourists is balanced and everyone is super friendly. It is also noticeable that there are more and more Muslims here and even all the little girls wear headscarves and burqas (?!).
In general, I liked the atmosphere on Koh Lanta the best among the islands. In terms of nature, there are, in my opinion, more interesting islands. It was perfect for chilling and exploring.
Now on to Krabi!
