Bornich is not directly on the Rheinsteig. And what does that mean? The O gene has struck again. O stands for orientation difficulty. Man oh man. It took me at least 45 minutes to get back on the Rheinsteig. But that wasn't all. Some time later, I had an extra episode because I didn't listen to the app. In the end, it was another 23 km and 800 meters of altitude today. Damn it, it was supposed to be an easy going day. But it was still nice. Passing the Loreley, I didn't even know that the Lady is now down there so that the boatmen can see her better or something. Otherwise, a lot of hustle and bustle and tourist crowds, so quickly passed by. Today, there were 2 castles along the way. Katz (private property) and Maus, unfortunately the gate was also locked. The density of castles here in the upper Middle Rhine Valley is really nice to see. Today, I walked along a mining educational trail. Until 1958, the Rhine was tunneled at Wellmich. Because of the ore mining on the other side of the Rhine. It was 130 meters deep. Today, I stayed in a nice little accommodation right on the Rheinsteig again.
