Following macro adventures comes micro adventure Day 1 Nidda - Burkhards

Rudi is being upgraded again. He will receive an additional solar panel and a better battery. What does that mean for me? I've had the desire for quite some time to just casually walk away from home. The destination was quickly chosen: Fulda (with a visit to the thermal baths), and on the way back to Hoherodskopf. Ideal, because we're meeting there for a women's breakfast next Sunday. Return journey secured. Accommodations booked and we started this morning. The weather forecast was rather bad, but it is what it is. Today it was 8 degrees, dry, and overcast. 🤔

For me, it felt like I was opening an old book today. So many memories from the past came up. First, passing by the place where we celebrated the millennium. The children in their thick snowsuits were by the fire for a long time. Eventually, we went to sleep in the warm VW bus. Burki and Michi properly burned in our newly acquired cast iron pot (in which the chili had previously simmered). The pot turned into a firestorm. The two spent the whole night by the campfire.

Then came a part of the path where memories of leisurely cycling with the kids up to Ziegelhütte came up. Delicious food, pleasant togetherness, and everyone was happy. Unfortunately, there is no longer a restaurant there today, despite its beautiful location.

In between, I saw two groups of mountain bikers twice. All of them from HWG. First the kids and then the oldies. But otherwise, everything was very quiet. Luckily, there was no rain. I am also very grateful that I didn't lose my wallet. I had left the zipper open at the top and only noticed it at the next break.
