21.09. - Arriving

Well, I really didn't have a clear idea of what and who would be waiting for me here... I didn't really want that! But when I woke up during the second leg of the flight from Oslo to Bardufoss on the approach - I was absolutely thrilled!

The clouds had cleared and allowed a breathtaking view of the landscape. On the horizon, the rugged peaks of the Lofoten Islands could be seen, below us lakes, mountains and forest, forest, forest. The greatest joy - it's Indian summer! Until now, I wasn't quite clear about the local vegetation state. My nose was practically glued to the window, I didn't want to miss any impressions. Isolated sun rays made the colorful forests appear to burn. Dark, mighty mountain slopes contrasted the landscape and I felt a shiver down my spine - I was here.

The boss of the farm, Regina, a humorous and energetic woman, picked me up along with my thousand things with her pickup truck. The way to the farm hardly allowed me to blink. The landscape captivated me so much that I had to make a great effort to engage in conversation. I would have preferred to just drool out of the window. After about an hour through mountains and valleys, on partly adventurous sections of the path, a sign by the roadside - Husky Farm. My home for the next 3 months. We were in Innset, a small collection of cabins and houses. Yes, there are neighbors! I must admit that I hadn't expected that at all. Lovingly built residential and commercial buildings of the farm surround a generous collection of various kennels and dog houses, you can see some of them in the photos. Currently living here are Björn and Regina, the owners, Corinna, a very experienced musher who has been living here indefinitely for almost a year and guides the tours, as well as Eric and me. Eric is also a helper, but he has been here since 31.08. So, as always, I'm the chick and latecomer and have a lot to catch up on!
