The north coast of Wales

After the hiking trip I cycled back to the coast where I passed the Penrhyn castle. I decided to have a look inside and around the castle. The history goes back to the 15th century but the building today was created after extensive renovation work in the early 19th century. The money for this came from sugar cane plantations and the abolition of slaves. Despite all this, the architect did a good job.

I spend the night on a farm camping in Llanfairfechan, a not particularly interesting village but with a nice little Café where I had a great breakfast the next morning. On the contrary I cycled through Conwy which is a very attractive little town with the smallest house in Britain and many tourists. The coastal cycle path was very scenic until I came to a very bizarre section. I was told before that there are not so nice areas but I didn't expect this. Over 20k I passed one holiday mobile home next to the other. In Rhyl I wanted to stop for lunch but the city was ugly, run down and full of cheap attractions and I couldn't find a nice restaurant. Everything was a bit creepy and there were a few characters running around that didn't make the place any more pleasant. I was happy when I found a nice farm to stay for the night away from the coast.
