After the larger cities and many people of the past few days, we long for more peace and nature. On our way lies the great campsite 'La Tour Fondue' on a peninsula in the town of Hyeres. The campsite is located directly by the sea and has its own access to the beach and the cliffs. We arrive at the campsite on the day of its opening. When we arrive, the campsite is already quite full and the lady at the reception confirms that they have just opened today. The campsite seems so popular that people have already arrived since 8 am. During our 11 days here, the campsite is usually occupied up to 80% every evening. There is also a lot to do. Unfortunately, Polly has developed quite a bit of rust on the roof, so we urgently need to treat it to prevent the roof rack from rusting away. Luckily, the weather is great and warm, almost a little summer, so the paint can dry well. The sofa is also treated at the same time, as the sea air and the rain have also left their marks on it.
We combine the visit to the dentist in St. Tropez with a walk through the city and the harbor. It is very crowded and everything is terribly expensive (ice cream ball for 4.50). Just like you know from TV. But the sea or rather the harbor with its many small coves and the small old town are beautiful. The dentist is a bit quirky, but quickly and professionally does his job.
The coastline around the campsite invites you to go hiking. We explore both sides of the coast on 2 days. There is a great and varied path along the water and through the cliffs, many small stone stairs that lead to small coves. There are also two long sandy beaches to discover. There are not many people around and we only occasionally meet a few hikers.
We also don't miss out on a trip to Hyeres and are surprised. Actually, we didn't expect much from this city, but the old town has its own charm. There is an artist district and a circular path through the old town with many small studios and artworks on buildings.
After this beautiful time here and this wonderful spot on earth, we continue on our way towards Avignon and our first visit.
