The umbrella behavior

The rainy season begins! This morning, I walked to the bus in pouring rain and then sat there with wet pants. The rain continued all morning and then paused shortly before 12:00 noon.

At 12:00 noon, the lunch break starts. The whole office then stands up at the same time to walk to the neighboring building for lunch. My colleagues grabbed their umbrellas and went to the window. Then they put them aside again, because it wasn't raining anymore.

While walking, I asked them what they would do if it started raining again on the way back. Answer: 'Run quickly!' That's how they are, my dear Chinese people, always loving to live in the here and now. We learned in a cultural seminar from a Chinese person that planning is not part of Chinese culture. But it's precisely these differences that make life here so interesting.

Despite being used as a sunshade as well, it's clear that the umbrella is dear and expensive here. This can be seen from the lockable umbrella stands, which can be found everywhere - in the subway, the cafeteria, or the school.

By the way, my colleagues didn't get wet after lunch. Maybe we can learn something from that too.
