13&14|12|2019, Australia Zoo

יצא לאור: 14.12.2019

Hi guys,

yesterday a childhood dream came true! We visited the "Australia Zoo".

This zoo was founded by one of my absolute childhood heroes, "Steve Irwin", so a visit to his zoo was naturally at the top of my priority list. If the name "Steve Irwin" doesn't ring a bell, maybe his nickname does, which is also the name of the TV series about him, the "Crocodile Hunter".

For me, he was definitely a hero, so I was very excited when the zoo gates opened at 9 a.m.

With a big smile on my face, a map in hand, and a sense of adventure, we started our day at the "Australia Zoo".

At that point, there were still 8 hours until the zoo closed, and those hours flew by. Giant saltwater crocodiles, all kinds of snakes, adorable wombats, Tasmanian devils, koalas dozing in the trees, and much more filled our day faster than we would have liked. The highlight was definitely a show at the "Crocoseum", where we could even witness a crocodile feeding. It was absolutely amazing to see such an animal in action.

It got really cute when we were allowed to watch the daily weighing of the koala babies living in the zoo and even invited to pet one of the koalas. I can only say that the fur of these little balls of wool is just as soft as it looks.

Of course, at the end of the day, we couldn't resist getting some souvenirs, so we returned to our car, which by the way has a name now. We named it "Perry". May "Perry" continue to be a good travel companion for us.

Then we drove a bit south to a campground and didn't come out of our rooftop tent anymore.

It was a day I will never forget!

Today, we caught up on some much-needed sleep. Since it was only a 1-hour drive to "Brisbane" by now, we decided to make the trip and spend the day there.

What ended up happening was that we went to the public lagoon. Here, we enjoyed the weather for a few hours by swimming, sunbathing, and ultimately, enjoying a delicious cold cocoa at a "Chocolaterie".

Now we are back, a bit south of Brisbane, at the same campground where we spent our first night in our rooftop tent back then. The place hasn't become more beautiful, but it offers us an ideal starting point to go to "Wellington Point" tomorrow to pick up some papers from Sonja and Dave, who kindly accepted them for us.

Greetings from Beenleigh, Australia!🇦🇺

Yours, Tim!😊

Today's temperature: 31 degrees with 40% humidity☀️
