Farm stay or the night with 600 cows

Instead of a campground or freedom camping, we stopped at Ross' Farmstay on the night of March 12th to 13th. Our bus found a spot between the double garage and woodshed, there was a toilet in the milk station, and a free lesson on dairy farming in New Zealand included. When we arrived, the tanker was just picking up 16,000 liters of milk. And later, the dairy farmer explained his business to us: 600 dairy cows on 600 acres, a barn manager and helpers... The details can be better explained by Helmut on request. However, it seemed that milk was not a simple business in New Zealand either.

At 5.30am, we actually crawled out of the bus and it was almost a bit eerie to see and especially hear how the many cows were being driven into the milking shed. How quietly it all went... And, surprisingly enough, you can also say: the cows were more scared of us than I was of them!
