05/11/2015 Somewhere in the Tablelands

יצא לאור: 04.05.2019

We went to bed at 8pm yesterday because we could barely move and were extremely exhausted. Luckily, we had a shaded spot at the campsite, so we were able to sleep in a bit longer (until 8:30am)!! :-).

During breakfast, we were thinking about a lot of things. Are we really going to drive 2600 km? Was it mean to lie to Jack? Will the lie be exposed and we won't get our money back? What if we arrive at the dairy farm and the job is also bad? How will our new travel route look like? Do we really want to extend the year? As you can see, we had a lot on our minds :-(.

In the end, we decided not to go down there! We didn't come to Australia to stress ourselves out like this. So our new plan is to leisurely travel along the east coast and then look for a job in the south. If we don't manage to do the farm days in time before our visa expires, then so be it.

It would be nice to earn a bit more money and have a better start back home, but if it doesn't happen, then it's just not meant to be.

So today, our journey took us back to Cairns to go to Happy Travels and get our money back for the forced membership. Believe it or not, we actually got the money back. We also received our salary for the past three days from the farms, now we just need the money from Jack. What's funny is that when we cancelled the milk farm job, the job agency that arranged it for us wrote that the farmer doesn't want to hire anyone else either. So it seems like it was meant to be :-D.

So we did everything right. You're probably thinking that it was a lot of back and forth and that we ended up with a negative outcome. Well, we can assure you, thanks to the few days of work and the refund from Happy Travels, we actually came out ahead in this whole thing :-). For us, it's clear that we will never work on a banana farm again! We also had a much better gut feeling today!
