Beach life

We are in Agadir and taking a break from camping life. A hotel right on the beach, with rooms, balcony, and sea view. The hotels here are almost empty, so there are Ramadan prices. We enjoy the service and the breakfast buffet.

In the morning, it's shopping or sightseeing time. For example, one of the big shopping centers, 'Marjane', or browsing around in the hardware store next to it. Or we visit the old Medina, which was destroyed by a major earthquake and rebuilt using local materials.

In the afternoon, we take a plunge into the sea on the almost empty beach, letting ourselves be carried away by the waves of the Atlantic.

In the evening, the scene on the beach completely changes. Towards sunset, we witness a local migration to the beach. Groups of young people, families with children, young couples, etc., carry sacks of food to celebrate the evening break of Ramadan after sunset. Most groups have shovels with them. They use them to clear a rectangular channel, about 30cm wide and 40cm deep. The rectangle in the middle is the table, and you can sit outside and put your feet in the channel. Because the beach here is very shallow, the sand is moist and can be molded well and firm until far into the shore. Eating and celebrating continues until late into the night.

The next morning, everything is cleaned up as if nothing had happened.

Despite the few tourists, there are still some 'normal' attractions, such as camel riding, sand sculptures, sunsets, etc., on the beach.

Additionally, it was Jasmin's birthday, which inspired the breakfast service crew to serve her a birthday cake with candles while singing.
