Grotto Mountain Hike and Sportclimbing in Heart Creek

We used the still amazing weather on June 27th to do a big hike up Grotto Mountain. It was really strenuous because it goes up and down very steeply. But it was worth it! The views over Canmore and all the other mountain peaks were stunning. We even saw the “Matterhorn of Canada” Mt Assiniboine. On our way down we also spotted a marmot and a chipmunk (Streifenhörnchen) at very close range! After that long day, the pasta and beer we had back at our camp were just delicious.

The next day, we went sport climbing in Heart Creek which was enjoyable until it started raining in the afternoon. So, we had some time left for trying out “Canadian cuisine”. Well, we had dinner at Tim Horton’s the first time. And we tried Root Beer which was – sorry to say that - absolutely disgusting. It tasted like strange mouth rinse with huge amounts of sugar added. But the Pina Colada popcorn we tried was tasty!
