Escape from Alcatraz

Yay, today we visited the famous Alcatraz prison island. We started at 10 am with the boat from Pier 33, the crossing took just under 15 minutes. We were again very lucky with the weather and had sunshine all day and a great view. On Alcatraz itself, you have to walk to the highest point of the island where the main building is located, the prison block with the cells, the cafeteria, the showers, and the maximum security wing. From there, the audio tour starts, you choose your desired language, get headphones, and off you go through the entire building, where everything still looks as it must have been back then. We found it really exciting and interesting, definitely worth seeing! Later, we took the boat back for dinner at one of the best burger joints in the city.

Afterwards, we got back into our Toyota and drove down the Lombard Street with its steep curves. It was a bit crazy :-D

Since we have already seen everything we wanted to see in San Francisco, tomorrow we will start the long journey back to Las Vegas and see where we end up along the way :)
