Tag 278 - Cobá Ruins, Cenote Multum Ha, Cenote Tankach-Ha & POLICE!😅

Hello dear ones!

Today we experienced a lot!

At 9:00 a.m. we were able to hand over our accommodation because today we are changing our location again.

Shortly afterwards we were picked up by Roman and Tiziana (they took our car yesterday to drive back to the hotel).

After loading all the luggage, we were ready to go! We had the Cobá archaeological site on the agenda for the day, as the two had not seen a Mayan site yet and Roman is very interested in it. After about an hour's drive, we reached our destination. We walked into the archaeological park and after a few steps we could admire the first pyramid. Unfortunately, unlike the last one, we were not allowed to climb this one. Right next door, we could rent bicycles for a small fee, which we did. The bicycles were rusty, old, and had only one gear, but they were a lot of fun! So we rode through the jungle and explored all the ruins. After 6 kilometers, we returned the bicycles.

It was quite warm, although we were lucky with the weather thanks to the clouds.

Outside the entrance, we discovered billboards for various cenotes in the area and unanimously decided to treat ourselves to a cool down.

Once there, we were asked how many cenotes we would like to see and we decided to go for the middle ground: two.

We were extremely lucky! The first cenote led down a staircase into a hole in the ground. Once downstairs, we were greeted with an indescribable sight! We were standing in the middle of a cave, beautifully lit and with fascinating limestone formations. At first, there were hardly any people and we could really enjoy the cenote! Just as we were about to leave, a group of people arrived and the tranquility was disturbed.

Then we made our way to the second one. This one was also quite something - but not because of its beauty ☺️

It had two different height diving boards cleverly built into the staircase, which also led down. We jumped a few times and had a lot of fun again!

After this exciting experience, we all felt hungry.

We drove back towards the hotel and kept an eye out for a restaurant. After a short drive, we found something suitable. The restaurant was really lovely and pretty and the food was great! Next door was a small shop where Tiziana and Roman bought a cute dream catcher for their new apartment.

After that, we finally made our way back to the hotel - or at least that was the plan.... After a few minutes, we were waved down by the police! They claimed we had overtaken another vehicle, even though it was not allowed at that point. At first, they wanted to write a report and take us to the station. We were supposed to pay a fine of CHF 90.-. A short time later, it was reduced to CHF 45.- if we paid immediately. Seriously, we didn't have CHF 45.- left in our wallets! The policeman then told us to just give him everything we had (CHF 20.-) and he would delete the report. Hihihi, in Thailand we were already ripped off by corrupt police and now in Mexico too ☺️.

Well, luckily Roman and Tiziana were still shopping - otherwise we would have lost more money to the police *laughs*

Now we finally continued on our journey ☺️.

After unloading Roman and Tiziana, we continued towards "Playa del Carmen". We will stay there for two nights and probably fight our way through the nightlife with all the other tourists ☺️

But as soon as we reached the place, it became really tiresome! Enormous traffic, one-way streets, people not looking before crossing the street, and somehow the address was wrong... We wandered around Playa del Carmen for about 45 minutes and finally found our accommodation. I told Kevin to remember our car well because it won't be moved for the next two days ☺️. Exhausted, we checked in and went to our room.

It's really amazing! We have a bed hanging from the ceiling with ropes and our own whirlpool!

We immediately took advantage of that and while I'm writing to you, I'm sitting in a warm tub with bubbles 😁.

Maybe we'll go out later, but we'll decide spontaneously. For now, it's all about: Enjoying!

That's it for today and you'll hear from us again tomorrow 😉

Until theeeeeeenn!

PS: The pictures will follow tomorrow 😉
