Hello from Angkor,
or rather from Siem Reap, where I am currently relaxing in my super bungalow at The Mansion Siem Reap.
And after the last 3 days, it is quite difficult for me to write anything at all. Although the last few days were really exciting. I set off every morning to the Angkor area, which is about 8 km from my hotel location, and I should mention here that I wasn't chauffeured around like most tourists here with some tuk-tuk or even a bus, no, every day I hopped on my bike and inspected one temple after another. So a total distance of about 150 km has surely been covered. Today alone, on the 3rd and last day, it was 80 km, and that at 30-32 degrees Celsius! Both physically and mentally, I'm exhausted, as I already have ruins in my eyes and don't want to see any more temples for the next few weeks.
But I'm really excited that I finally made it here after a long time.
Well then, tomorrow morning I will set off to my last destination in Cambodia, Phnom Penh, let's see what awaits me there.
Side note: Last night there was also a bit of a cultural program. First, I watched a puppet show (the famous shadow play) and then there was a traditional (Khmer) dance performance. The special thing about this event was that it was performed by disabled children and teenagers, including blind, deaf, and hard of hearing children, and the contribution of 6 dollars went to these children.
This all took place (for all those who are here) at the La Noria Hotel here in Siem Reap! All in all, it was a beautiful and successful evening.
Well then, I'll be back from Phnom Penh shortly...
