I am back again.

We were at the grandmother's house of the student. But last Sunday we went to her place again.

This blog post is supposed to be about how Christmas is celebrated in America and my little dream come true. 😍

First of all, Christmas isn't here until December 25. There is a family meal on Christmas Eve, but the presents are not opened until December 25. I have to say that I found it a little confusing. It felt like having a birthday and unwrapping your gifts you got on the day. 🎁

When we were washing the dishes after Christmas Eve dinner, the stupidest thing that could ever happen to you really happened to me. 😂 Almost every American sink still has a spray hose available to get the dirt off the dishes. The faucet was still on, of course, and then I picked up the hose (unsuspectingly, of course) and accidentally pressed the button. With the opening facing me, the water just gushed out in front. I will definitely never forget this 'shower'. 😂

The cozy idea of a Christmas Eve, however, where you sit with your family, sing, and unwrap gifts while the fireplace burns, I missed a bit. So on December 24th, I FaceTimed my family and was able to experience a part of Christmas Eve after all. It feels strange not to have been there in person.

Back to my Christmas in America. We exchanged gifts in the family in the morning and then went to the grandmother's. There we had a Christmas dinner with some relatives. And there, gifts were exchanged again. When we got back, we had a movie night and had fun until late at night. 😂

A bit of a shame I think, that was all. They don't really have something like the 1st and 2nd Christmas Day. I already had to settle for the non-existent Advent wreath. 😉

But now let's get to my little dream come true. On Monday, there will be a hopefully unforgettable experience for me. However, I'm not revealing yet where the day trip is going. In any case, I will also make a separate blog entry about it. 🤗

I'll just say this much: The place is called the 'District of Columbia', it's a major city, and you can visit an important political building there! Well, any idea which city I'm talking about? 😉
