Melaka
Totally exhausted, we arrive at Melaka bus station in the middle of the night. The next bus to the city center doesn't leave until morning, and there are no taxis either.... It's too far to walk to the city. It's also almost 4 hours until sunrise 😒.
Melaka, the former pirate city, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the Malacca River and in the small alleys, there are small shops selling art and traditional items as well as many Chinese shops selling antiques and trinkets.... In between, there are Buddhist and Hindu temples as well as mosques... Melaka is similar to Penang but much quieter and more attractive... we are enchanted by the city.
The feel-good factor is also contributed by Tim, our host who is the "Jamie Oliver" of Melaka. He prepares a great breakfast for us every morning and spoils us with homemade cookies....
Since we are in Melaka on a weekend, the city is crowded with local tourists and other Asian tour groups... you almost have to push through the city, but it is still relaxed 🤗.
From here, after 3 days, we take the ferry to Dumai in Sumatra. We have decided to travel back to Indonesia 🇮🇩 due to the remaining time. Here, we want to embark on a few more adventures and spend the last part of our journey.
