We drove for about 2 hours from Krabi to Trang by minivan, as our train to the north departs from there...
Upon arrival in Trang, we had about 3 hours to explore the city. Well, that's what we thought... but there is simply nothing to see here! So we settled in a cafe with a coffee, a Fanta, and some nuts to snack on, and spent our time reading Thai magazines. We didn't understand much, but it was still very amusing...
After refreshing ourselves, we went back to the train station and boarded the train. Of course, we had a first-class compartment, a nice little room for two with a window. We made ourselves comfortable and enjoyed the view. In between, we selected our dinner and informed the conductor when we wanted our bed prepared. The night was a bit bumpy, but somehow more relaxing than expected. Unfortunately, we had to get up at 6:40 in the morning to transfer to our train to Kanchanaburi. Two hours of waiting, breakfast, and visiting a temple, and then another hour of train ride until we reached there. Then we took a taxi to the hostel and ta-daaa: we arrived in Kanchanaburi easily and excitingly by land... Getting around in Thailand is so easy!
