Today we left Georgetown again - but not without having a delicious breakfast at our favorite café. We spent the time until the train ride visiting the Upside Down Museum. It was very funny, and surprisingly, Nora had no problem letting the staff take pictures of her here :)
The train ride to Ipoh was very relaxed, the train was modern, clean, and once again offered both legroom and punctuality, which you can only dream of on German trains :) We arrived in just under 2 hours. The route led through wonderfully green landscapes, occasionally passing small villages and then lots of nature. In the background, mountains appeared here and there. A wonderful setting that really brought peace.
By the way, to get a train ticket here, you have to provide your passport information, and boarding is more like boarding an airplane.... but without security checks. You choose your seat when booking, so there's no crowding and vying for the best seat. Very pleasant. And once again, we felt like the only Europeans on the train. I've noticed this several times on our tour this year. Trains don't seem to be the chosen mode of travel for Germans, English, Americans, and the like. And yet, it is so convenient to travel by train.
We didn't explore Ipoh itself today. We just quickly ran across the street from the hotel to the nearest food stall and filled our stomachs. Unfortunately, it didn't taste particularly special, but at 3€ for food and drinks together, it was very cheap.
Back at the hotel, we actually wanted to have a drink in the rooftop bar advertised on the hotel's website... but children were not allowed, it didn't say that anywhere before. That's an automatic negative review! It really annoyed me!
So, I used the evening to plan the rest of our trip. Once in the booking frenzy, I couldn't be stopped, and now everything is organized until our departure. There will be several days when we will be on the go, but it is also good not to have to deal with this part anymore. For the final stay in Singapore, we even have a hotel with a pool, as a little surprise for Nora. She will be delighted.
Tomorrow we have to get up early, we will already be leaving for the bus station at 8 o'clock and then off to Tanah Rata in the Malaysian Highlands. We are excited!
