In Ojochal we stayed for four days at the 'Jungle Tree House', a tree house located in the vast rainforest and garden of our hosts Sharon and Marc. The first night was a bit restless (as you hear many insects, animals, and other sounds from the forest at night ;)). But after the first night, we got used to our adventurous living and felt really comfortable. The beautiful and large garden of our hosts housed many fruits and tropical plants such as turmeric, lemongrass, grapefruit, pineapple, starfruit, and much more. Since our accommodation is actually a yoga retreat, we had to take the opportunity to book a private session with Julie, a yoga teacher on-site (Pascal's first yoga class!).
During one of our diving trips, we met a biologist from Sweden who works and researches at a turtle station. We were naturally very interested, and she spontaneously invited us to visit the research station. She explained to us that the station takes turtle eggs from the La Tortuga beach to a safe area in the research station and monitors them there. It was also very interesting to learn that only one out of 1000 turtles survives the first years and manages to reproduce.
