From Rigny-la-Nonneuse to Sens on a terrible rainy day, Day 8

Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Day 8, today we started our second week. To cut to the chase: the strong headwind was no longer our problem today, but rather the incredibly heavy rain. We heard it all night because it was pounding on our roof. So we decided to stay in our accommodation until noon because the rain radar promised improvement from 2:00 p.m. It was gray, rainy, cool, and discouraging. Around 1:00 p.m., the rain actually subsided and we got ready. At 1:30 p.m., we set off and had a pleasant, not too strenuous, beautiful bike ride without rain, without much headwind, and in the end, with sun and warmth. After about 40 km, we reached Sens. A small town with 28,000 inhabitants, with bars, cafes, bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants, something we haven't experienced in the last 400 km since the Eifel. We have a beautiful vacation apartment here with everything we need, even a washing machine, and we will also take a rest day tomorrow to let our tired bodies recover. And to enjoy the wonderful options of this little town.
