14.10. After a long night and warm shower, we have breakfast under our "private pavilion" and sit in the sun. Today we are going hiking in the Yant Flats. Since we will surely be there until sunset to capture the colors photographically, there is no rush. We talk a little more with Walter and learn that he and his wife are both musicians. His joy about the many shared interests is expressed in such a way that he thinks we should come and stay with them on our way to Denver. We promise to try.
At noon, we finally set off. When we arrive at the Yant Flats, we are amazed at the size and diversity of the area: the landscape has many similarities to our beloved Vermillion Cliffs (we will come to that in a few days). It has the geometric, white humpback mountains, red, yellow and other colors that blend into each other. Roman is very excited and walks several kilometers to find beautiful photo spots. He has the agony of choice.
In the meantime, I let this wonderful place affect me more from its energetic side. One of my best friends became a mother 2 days ago and I am very touched and delighted by this news. With GarageBand on my iPhone, I write her and the baby a song.
Afterwards, we explore the Yant Flats together. We photograph until the sun sets. With our headlamps, we make our way back to the car. Luckily, Roman has the sense of direction of a bird and skillfully leads us back to Carlito. In the dark, we still cook and eat in the "Clubhouse", the hangout next to the laundry room, protected from the wind. Then we spend one last night at the campsite in Leeds.
